| Because
Lake Minnetonka is one of the most heavily used lakes in the state, the lakeshore
community has become concerned about the changing nature of boat density, along
with an increase in noise, parking, waste, sanitary management and unruly—even
illegal behavior—by boaters.
It is also important to note the changing nature of lake use. There
are fewer fishing boats and more power boats, and the size and length
of boats is increasing.
Pressure is growing to develop marginal lands and tributary areas
around Lake Minnetonka, which would essentially expand the shoreline
and create new motorized access points to the lake.
