Public access to Lake Minnetonka occurs via facilities ranging from
small unimproved and un-maintained rights-of-way to large improved
facilities. The Lake Minnetonka Association recognizes
the public’s right to have access to and use Lake Minnetonka
as a public water body.
Concerns with neighborhood disruption, noise, parking, waste, and
sanitary management and law enforcement tend to intensify as the
size and operation of public access gets smaller. To facilitate
safe and orderly public access to Lake Minnetonka, Lake
Minnetonka Association supports consolidating public access
to facilities that:
• Provide a separation and buffer from residential areas.
• Provide sanitary and waste disposal.
• Provide and maintain adequate parking and access facilities.
• Provide more effective and efficient law enforcement.
*Adopted by the Lake Minnetonka Association
Board of Directors, September 28, 2001.
